I knew nothing about SLR cameras before deciding to purchase one but did quite a bit of research. Started off looking at more expensive cameras and trying to decide whether to get a Canon or Nikon. Went with the lower end camera because I'm a beginner and really the main thing we're looking for is quality pictures of the kids that we can blow up and frame. Wasn't able to justify any additional expense (to my husband) for the upgrade right now. Being able to get a package that included a VR zoom lens at little additional cost made the decision to purchase this camera much easier. Try buying it in parts, and you'll see there's a huge discount with this package. I'm still learning the features and will continue to be learning for some time, but I'm very happy with the camera so far and shopping for more picture frames.
